TYPOS!!!!
Thanks to Peter Lawrence for noticing incorrect instructions on page 128 in the instructor notes for the style
inventory exercise. I seem to have indicated that both the first and second answers are relationship oriented.
It is the first answers that are relationship oriented and the second which are more traditional power-over
perspectives.
Thanks to Donna Signs for catching this one. On slide 5 of the SBSIOBSAAT PowerPoint file the number of BOB
fatalities for grade 2 should be "7" not "17."
Refreshers too long? If you are concerned about the length of the refreshers, these links include slides that
can be removed or modified to reduce the length of the refresher without losing the theme of the program.
PJ's LAW
Updated PJ's Law PowerPoint
PJ's Law PowerPoint shortened: On "Legal Resources" slide, delete everything but the text under IDEA. This
needs to remain because it is part of the handout. Delete "Language of Respect" slide.
PJ's Law with citation -- some SBDIs have asked for a full copy of PJ's Law with citation.
Cleveland High School Teammates -- two wrestling teammates, one blind and one a double amputee support
each other through many challenges. Thanks to Peter Lawrence for suggesting this video clip.
Link to R-word Campaign -- good example of sensitivity to language issues

"In My Language" by Amanda Baggs describes her language as a person with Autism Take the time to
experience the first part of this clip in order to understand the second part.
These two videos. "The Talk" Part One and Part Two, create a picture of what it would be like if nondisabled
people were treated like disabled people are today. The first one is a job interview and the second one is a
date.
Link to survey by the National Psoriasis Foundation Survey documents how even a non-contagious skin
condition creates STIGMA, EMBARRASSMENT, and SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS.
THE ROAD TO COMPLIANCE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS DRIVERS is a video by Peggy Burns that can be used as
additional material to expand the PJ's Law Refresher. You still need to cover the provided material, but if you
have more time to devote to the PJ's Law Refresher, consider purchasing Peggy's video.
RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships PowerPoint shortened: Delete 2 slides titled "Long-running Conflict" and/or two slides titled
"Win-Win".
DISTRACTION
Distraction PowerPoint shortened: Delete the slides titled "Available Memory" and "Top 10 Offenders". The
notes on "Available Memory" relate to the previous slide as well, so be sure to include them in your discussion
of the previous slide.
Link to an excellent one-page fact sheet from the NHTSA study. Can be used as a supplemental handout for
the Distraction Refresher.
